Emsdale
This small town boasts one the Highlands and Ontario's greatest natural attractions; Brooks Falls, that is easily accessible on Dear Lake Road. Brooks Falls is perhaps the greatest example of an untouched wilderness waterfall undisturbed by modern development. Sporting several walking trails that follow the path of the tumbling river and the falls themselves, it is a great way to spend half the day. Many visitors suggest bringing a picnic while you enjoy the surrounding scenery and listening to the crashing falls while you have lunch at one of the picnic tables set-up for your convenience.
Other attractions that Emsdale boasts include the Perry Old-timer museum, Historical Cemeteries, as well as a children's playground. The outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the excellent bass and trout fishing, but let's not forget the kayaking for those a little more adventurous.
You may want to go for a walk or a bike ride down the Seguin Recreational Trail, a great way to see the scenic splendor that Emsdale has to offer. This area does not close up in the winter with many travelers coming to the area for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
Summer visitors will enjoy the Clear Lake public beach, and although Emsdale may be considered small compared to Toronto, there are many places to sleep, get food, and purchase gas
Novar
Founded in the late 1800's, this small town is a perfect place for tourists to enjoy some peace and sample the slow pace of life. Travelers enjoy visiting this area to see the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church (circa 1895) and to purchase unique items found in the area.
Visitors can enjoy their stay at Bed & Breakfasts that offer that Old World charm or may wish to check out the local campgrounds. There are many scenic drives around the countryside as well as the picturesque lakes that look like a post card come to life.
Another feature that many visitors make a point of seeing is the old cemetery that dates back to the early 1800's.
Although you might think that Novar is way off the beaten path, it is actually right on hwy. 11 (Young street for you history buffs) and offers all the amenities you expect such as fuel, food, and repair shops, in addition to a variety of businesses. Travlers also enjoy the many water sports Novar has to offer including fishing and lets not forget snowmobiling in the winter
