and their families in the event of an emergency
or disaster. No community is equipped to handle
all the demands of a catastrophe. Help your community
by preparing yourself.
How to prepare an emergency
survival kit; aim to have a kit that will keep
you and your family self-sufficient for at least
3 days.
What
to include in your easy to carry case/backpack/duffel
bag (in case you must evacuate):
- Flashlights
- Battery operated or crank radio
- Extra car keys and cash
- Food
- Water 4L per person per day
- Non-perishable food
- First Aid Kit
- Blankets & sleeping bags
- Medications
- Whistle
- Spare batteries of appropriate sizes
- Candles and Matches / Lighter
- Important papers (identification)
- Clothing and footwear
- Toilet paper and other personal items
- Extra change of clothes
- Playing cards
Keep in mind of special needs
items for babies, seniors, pets, people with
medical conditions, etc...
